Are you local? Where is your shop?

Yes. Bee Friends Farm is proudly based in Jacksonville, Florida.

Our retail shop is located in Murray Hill, near US-17 and S. Edgewood Ave.
You can find directions on our website or through your preferred map app.

Can I pick up my order locally?

Yes. We offer free local pickup.

At checkout, select the Local Pickup option. Once your order is ready, we will send a notification so you know when to stop by.

No need to hover like a bee waiting on a bloom.

Can I visit the bees? Do you offer tours?

Yes. We host Beekeeping Experiences during the spring and fall seasons.

These are scheduled, guided experiences focused on education and hands-on learning. Availability is seasonal, and details are posted on our website or email us at hello@beefriendsfarm.com

How long does shipping take?

Most orders ship the same or next business day.

We do not ship or process orders on Saturdays or Sundays.
Please allow up to two weeks for Adopt-A-Hive orders, as these require additional preparation.

How do you produce so many different types of honey?

We are migratory beekeepers, which means we move our hives to follow blooming plants throughout Florida.

By placing bees in specific regions during peak bloom, we are able to produce a variety of Florida honey types, including Jacksonville Wildflower, Black Mangrove, Tupelo, Saw Palmetto, and Orange Blossom.

The bees do the traveling. You get the flavor.

How many hives do you manage?

Our goal is to manage up to 600 healthy colonies during peak season.

Hive health and placement are overseen by our Head Beekeeper, Michael Leach, across multiple locations throughout the year.

What honey do people commonly choose during allergy season?

Many customers prefer to choose honey produced by their local neighborhood beekeeper, especially during seasonal changes.

For Jacksonville, that means our hyper-local Wildflower honey, produced within the I-295 beltway. It is one of our most popular varieties and a frequent customer favorite during this time of year.

Why can’t children under one year old have honey?

Infants under one year old have immature immune and digestive systems and may be at risk of infant botulism if they consume raw honey.

The naturally occurring spores that can be present in honey are harmless to adults and older children, but infants should avoid honey until after their first birthday.

Is honey safe during pregnancy?

Honey is generally considered safe for pregnant women because it is processed by the mother’s fully developed digestive system, not the baby’s.

If you have specific dietary concerns or underlying health conditions, consult your healthcare provider.

How can I use honey?

Honey is incredibly versatile and can often be substituted for sugar in recipes. Because honey is sweeter than processed sugar, you may find that using slightly less works best.

Common uses include:

  • Coffee or tea

  • Baking and cooking

  • Salad dressings and marinades

  • Cocktails

  • A simple spoonful for a quick energy boost

Visit our recipe section for ideas and inspiration.

How do you know a honey is Orange Blossom, Black Mangrove, etc.?

Honey varietals are named for the primary nectar source. Bees typically forage within a three-mile radius of their hive.

When hives are placed in dense, targeted bloom areas, the resulting honey reflects that plant’s unique flavor profile. We also conduct pollen testing, and experienced beekeepers can often identify varietals by taste.

Each honey has its own distinct character, much like a fingerprint.

What is creamed honey?

Creamed honey is a naturally crystallized form of honey with a smooth, spreadable texture.

We start with our Jacksonville Wildflower honey and add flavor infusions such as Cinnamon, Lemon, Mexican Vanilla, or Chocolate. There is no added sugar or dairy, just honey with organic spices or extracts.

How can I use creamed honey?

Use creamed honey just as you would liquid honey.

It melts nicely in hot drinks and works well in:

  • Coffee or tea

  • Oatmeal

  • Smoothies

  • As a spread or icing

How long does honey last?

Honey does not spoil.

It is one of the only foods with an indefinite shelf life. Archaeologists have even found edible honey in ancient tombs. The bees figured that one out long ago.

What should I do if my honey crystallizes?

Crystallization is natural and a sign of pure honey.

To return it to liquid form:

  1. Place the glass jar in warm water

  2. Heat gently and slowly

  3. Avoid high temperatures to preserve raw properties

What’s the deal with beeswax?

Beeswax is a natural product of the hive. Its color can vary depending on nectar sources and may range from pale cream to deep golden tones. Learn More.

This natural variation is why no two beeswax candles look exactly the same.

Are beeswax candles better than regular candles?

We may be a little biased, but beeswax candles burn longer and cleaner and produce a warm, natural glow.

Learn more about beeswax and beeswax candles on our website.
