Essential Pickup Details

  • Pickup Location: For the safety and security of our apiaries, the specific pickup address will be provided only after you have scheduled your pickup window. However, for planning purposes, the site is located on Jacksonville’s Westside, in the proximity of I-10 and I-295.

  • Timeline: Nucs are typically ready for pickup by mid-March, weather permitting.

  • Scheduling Updates: Starting in early March, we will begin sending out email updates to help you finalize your preparations and select your specific pickup window.

  • Requirements: To ensure a safe transfer, please bring your own bee suit and ensure you have secure, ventilated transportation.

  • Joint Inspection at Pickup: Every nuc is personally inspected with you at time of pickup. We will open the nuc together to verify the health of the bees and the queen.
  • Our Satisfaction Promise: If you are not satisfied with the condition of the nucs during inspection, we will open and inspect additional nucs until you find one that meets your expectations.
  • Post-Pickup Care: Because honey bees are live animals sensitive to transport (overheating) and the transfer process, our liability ends once the nuc leaves our premises. We provide expert guides to help you ensure a safe trip home and a successful hive transfer.

Tips for a Safe Trip Home

Honey bees are highly sensitive to heat. To ensure a successful journey from our farm to your apiary, please follow these transport guidelines:

  • Prioritize Airflow: If transporting inside a vehicle, keep the AC on high and ensure the nuc is placed in a well-ventilated area.

  • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Keep the nuc shaded. Do not place it in the bed of a truck in direct sun without proper cover and airflow.

  • No Stops Along the Way: Go directly to your apiary. Never leave live bees in a parked car, as temperatures can reach lethal levels in minutes.

  • Secure Your Load: Ensure the nuc is level and secured so it doesn't slide or tip during turns.
